EC 1413 Calibration Solution
EC 1413 Calibration Solution is designed to keep your electrical conductivity (EC) meter properly calibrated, ensuring accurate nutrient measurements and helping growers maintain optimal feeding schedules for healthy plant growth.
Suitable for most EC and TDS meters, EC 1413 is a widely recognised calibration standard used across horticulture, hydroponics, agriculture, and laboratory applications. The corresponding TDS value displayed by your meter will vary depending on whether it uses a 500 ppm or 700 ppm conversion factor.
How to Calibrate an EC Meter with EC 1413 Solution
- Pour a small amount of EC 1413 Calibration Solution into a clean, dry, non-metallic container. A bottle cap, small plastic cup, or similar container works well.
- If possible, rinse the probe of your EC meter with distilled water before calibration.
- Follow the calibration method recommended by your meter manufacturer:
Automatic Calibration
- Place the probe into the calibration solution.
- Press the calibration button on the meter.
- Select the appropriate calibration value (1413 µS/cm) if prompted.
- Confirm the setting and allow the meter to complete the calibration process.
Manual Calibration
- Locate the calibration adjustment screw, which may be on the meter body or inside the battery compartment.
- Insert the probe into the EC 1413 solution.
- Using the supplied screwdriver, slowly adjust the screw until the display reads 1413 µS/cm.
After Calibration
Once calibration is complete, rinse the probe with clean water before use. Never pour used calibration solution back into the original bottle, as this can contaminate the remaining liquid and affect future accuracy.
For best results, store the bottle tightly sealed in a cool place and use the solution within three months of opening.
