How to Calibrate Your pH Meter

1. Prepare the calibration solution
   Pour a small quantity of calibration fluid into a clean, dry container. Choose a container that is just large enough to accommodate the probe at the end of your pH meter. A small cup or clean bottle cap can work well. Avoid using metal containers.
2. Clean the probe
   Before calibration, rinse the probe gently with distilled water if available. This helps prevent residue from affecting the calibration solution or your meter’s reading.
3. Check your meter’s calibration method
   pH meters generally use either automatic/electronic calibration or manual calibration.

   For electronic calibration:
   Place the probe into the calibration solution, making sure the sensing area is adequately submerged. Activate the meter’s calibration function, select the appropriate calibration value, and confirm your selection. Allow the meter to complete the calibration process without disturbing the probe.

   For manual calibration:
   Manual meters usually include a small screwdriver for adjustment. Locate the calibration screw on the meter — it may be positioned inside or near the battery compartment. Place the probe into the calibration solution and slowly adjust the screw until the meter displays the same value as the solution, such as pH 4.0 or pH 7.0.

4. Rinse and store
   After calibration is complete, remove the probe and rinse it with clean water before use. Your pH meter is now ready to take accurate readings.

Important: Never pour used calibration solution back into the original bottle. Discard any solution that has already been used for calibration.
